5.7 Installing VisualAge for Java V4.0

If you have developed custom EJBs for your WebSphere Commerce Suite V5.1 store and wish to migrate them to your new development environment, you will need to install VisualAge for Java V4.0.

Attention: Please read the opening paragraphs of 7.5, “Migrating custom EJBs” on page 118 to determine if you wish to do this step.

If you are going to recreate your EJBs using the tools in WebSphere Studio Application Developer V5.1.1, which we recommend unless you have a large number of custom EJBs, you do not need to install VisualAge for Java V4.0 and can skip the remainder of this section.

The time requirements for the installation and configuration of VisualAge for Java V4.0 obviously depends on you hardware. The time we spend is summarized in Table 5-1.

Follow these instructions to install VisualAge for Java V4.0. This process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete, depending on your hardware.
