8 VIDEO STABILIZER

When this function is set to “ON”, you can automatically correct vertical

ON

vibration in the picture when playing back unstable recordings made on

OFF

another recorder.

NOTES:

When you finish viewing a tape, be sure to set this function to “OFF”.

Regardless of the setting, this function has no effect during recording and during special effects playback.

The on-screen display may jitter vertically when this function is set to “ON”. To watch recordings with close-caption, set this function to “OFF”.

Video Stabilizer and Digital TBC/NR cannot be used at the same time. If you activate Digital TBC/NR when “VIDEO STABILIZER” is set to “ON”, Video Stabilizer will be automatically turned “OFF”.

8 O.S.D.

When this function is set to “ON”, various operational indicators appear on the

ON

TV screen. Messages appear in the selected language ( pg. 17, 18).

When you use this recorder as the source player for editing, be sure to set “O.S.D.” to

 

“OFF” before starting.

 

During playback, the operation mode indicators may be disturbed depending on the

 

type of tape being used.

 

 

8 AUTO TIMER

When this function is set to “ON”, the timer is automatically engaged when the

ON

recorder power is turned off, and automatically disengaged when the recorder

OFF

is powered back on.

 

NOTE:

 

For safety, when “AUTO TIMER” is set to “OFF”, all other recorder functions are disabled

 

while the Timer mode is engaged. To disengage the timer, press # (TIMER).

 

 

8 DIRECT REC

When this function is set to “ON”, you can easily start recording the

ON

programme that you are watching on your TV. Press and hold 7 and press 4 on

OFF

the remote control, or press 7 on the recorder.

 

NOTES:

 

When you use the Direct Rec function, be sure to use a TV offering T-V LINK, etc. and

 

connect a fully-wired 21-pin SCART cable between the recorder and the TV

 

( pg. 12).

 

If “DIRECT REC” is set to “OFF”, the 7 button functions as described in “Basic

 

Recording” ( pg. 22, 30).

 

During the Direct Rec, “– –” appears on the front display panel.

 

If a programme is recorded with the Direct Rec, the station name will not be registered

 

for the Navigation. “– – – –” will be displayed for the station name.

 

Retake function ( pg. 38) does not work during Direct Rec.

 

Even if there is no power supply for more than 60 minutes, the recorder keeps the

 

setting.

 

If you use the remote control of your TV to record the programme with the Direct Rec,

 

the programme will be recorded on the HDD deck, even if you select the VHS deck. In

 

this case, first few seconds of the programme will not be recorded.
