Controlling Exposure

Exposure Compensation Use Exposure Compensation to modify exposure control (for example, from the ISO standard). This is useful when you are intentionally achieving under- or overexposure. Use Center-Weighed or Spot Metering with Exposure Compensation. You can use any exposure mode.

You can check the compensation value by pressing .

NOTE: Do not confuse Exposure Compensation with Digital Exposure Correction, which is used to correct errors in exposure (see page 6-15).

1. Press and hold

and rotate the Main-Command dial until the

desired compensation value appears (-3 EV to +3 EV in 1/2 steps).

Normally you should compensate exposure to the + side when the background is brighter than the main subject, or to the - side when the background is darker.

When Exposure Compensation is set,

appears in the Top Status

LCD and in the viewfinder. The electronic analog exposure display indicates the compensation value and 0 blinks.
