4.Align the instrument crosshairs to the centre of the target plate, and then

inspect the position of the red laser dot on the target plate.

) Generally speaking the red dot cannot be seen through the tele- scope, so look at the target plate from just above the telescope

or from just to the side of it.

If the dot illuminates the cross on the plate, the achievable adjustment

 

precision has been reached; if it lies outside the limits of the cross, the

 

direction of the beam needs to be adjusted. Refer to paragraph "Adjusting

 

the direction of the beam step-by-step".

 

If the dot on the more reflective side of the plate is too bright and

 

) dazzling, use the white side instead to carry out the inspection.
