SAFETYINSTRUCTIONS- Read before operating equipment

_fetystandards.Thereare,however,someinstallationandoperation

ecautionswhichyoushouldbeparticularlyawareof.

1. Read Instructions-All the safetyand operatinginstructionsshould
bereadbefore theapplianceis operated.
2. Retain Instructions- The safety and operatinginstructionsshould
beretainedfor future reference.
3. Heed Warnings - All warningson the applianceandin the operating
instructionsshouldbeadheredto.
4. Follow Instructions- All operatingand use instructionsshould be
followed.
5. 'Water andMoisture - Theapplianceshouldnot be used nearwater
- for example,near a bathtub,washbowl,kitchensink, laundrytub,
ina wetbasementor neara swimming pool,etc.
6. Carts and Stands- Theapplianceshouldbeusedonly with a cart or
standthat is recommendedbythe manufacturer.
6A. ,_ An applianceand cart combination should be moved
with care. Quickstops, excessiveforce, and uneven
surfacesmaycause theapplianceand cart combination
to overturn.
7. Wall or Ceiling Mounting- Theapplianceshouldbe mounted to a
wallor ceilingonlyas recommendedbythe manufacturer.
8. Ventilation - The applianceshouldbe situatedsothat its locationor
position doesnot interferewith its proper ventilation.For example,
the applianceshouldnotbe situatedon a bed,sofa, rug,or similar
surface that may block the ventilation openings; or, placed in a
built-in installation,suchasa bookcaseorcabinetthat may impede
theflow of air throughthe ventilationopenings.
9. Heal - The applianceshould be situatedaway from hear sources
such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances
(includingamplifiers)thatproduce heat.
10. Power Sources- The appliance should be connectedto a power
.... supply onlyof thetype describedinthe operatinginstructionsor as
marked onthe appliance.
•,. Power-Cord Protection - Powersupply cordsshould be routed so
that they are not likelyto be walkedon or pinched by items placed
upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords and
plugs, conveniencereceptacles,and the point where they exit from
theappliance.
12. Cleaning- The applianceshould be cleanedonly as recommended
bythe manufacturer.
13. Power Lines - An outdoorantennashould be locatedaway from
powerlines.
14. OutdoorAntennaGrounding- If an outside antennais connectedto
the receiver, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to
providesome protectionagainstvoltage surgesand built up static
charges.
Section 810 of the NationalElectricCode, ANSI/NFPANo. 70-1984,
providesinformationwithrespect to proper groundingof the mats
and supporting structure grounding of the lead-in wire to an
antennadischargeunit, size of groundingconnectors,location of
antenna-dischargeunit, connection to grounding electrodesand
requirementsforthegroundingelectrode.See Fig.below.
15. Non-use Periods - The power cord of the appliance should be
unpluggedfrom the outlet when left unusedfor a longperiod of
time.
16. Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objectsdo
not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through
openings.
17. Damage Requiring Service - The applianceshould be servicedby
qualifiedservicepersonnelwhen:
A. The power supplycordor the plug hasbeen damaged;or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the
appliance;or
C. Theappliancehasbeen exposedto rain; or
D. The appliancedoesnot appear to operate normallyor exhibits
a markedchangein performance;or
F_ Theappliancehasbeendropped,or the enclosuredamaged.
18. Servicing - The user should not attempt to servicethe appliance
beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other
servicingshouldbereferredto qualifiedservicepersonnel.
Noteto the CATVsystem installer:This reminderis providedto callthe
CATV system installer's attention to Article 820-40 of the NEC that
providesguidelinesforpropergroundingand, in particular,specifiesthat
the cable ground shall be connectedto the grounding system of the
building, as closeto the point of cableentry as practical.
