Changing the Network SettingsYourGPIB-ENET/100 must be in network configuration mode if you w ant
toch ange its network settings. Any changes you make will not take effect
while in normal operating mode.
1. When you select Properties... fromthe NI Ethernet Device
Configurationutil ity,NI-488.2 displays the properties fo r your
GPIB-ENET/100. The example shownin Figure 3-2 shows the
properties display for an unconfigureddevice.

The current hostname is displayed. The hostname associates a name
witha n umerical IP address. Hostname is a required field.
TheGPIB-ENET/100 attempts to use the hostname when registering
with DHCP.Many DHCP servers have the ability to register the
hostname and the assigned IP address. Youthen can reliably use the
hostname to communicate with your GPIB-ENET/100 evenif the
numerical IP address changes.
