4. (Optional) Youcan enter a comment to help you identify the device.
5. ClickOK to configure the device, or Cancel to exit without saving the
configurationchanges.
6. Click Exitto close the NI Ethernet Device Configurationut ility.
The deviceautomatically reboots with the newconfiguration in effect.
Static IP ParametersIfD HCP is not available, you must provide the GPIB-ENET/100 with
severali mportantnetw ork parameters. These parameters arelisted below.
•IPaddress—The unique, computer-readable address of a device on
yournetwork. An IP address typically is represented as four decimal
numbers separated byperiods (fo r example,130.164.54.215).
Refert o the next section, Choosing a Static IP Address.
•Subnetmask—A code that helps the network device determine
whetheranother device is on the same network or a different network.
•GatewayIP—The IP address of a device that acts as a gateway, which
isa c onnection between two networks. If your network does not have
agateway, set this parameter to 0.0.0.0.
•DNS Server—The IP address ofa network device that stores
hostnamesand translates them into IP addresses. If your network does
not havea DNS server, set this parameter to 0.0.0.0.
Choosing a Static IP AddressFor a Network Administered by a NetworkAdministratorIfyouareaddingtheGPIB-ENET/100toanexistingEthernetnetwork,you
mustchoose IP addresses carefully. Contact your network adm inistrator to
obtain an appropriate static IP address for your GPIB-ENET/100. Also
have the network administrator assign the proper subnet mask, gateway,
and DNS server addresses.
