Preparing the Camera

Prepare the camera for underwater photography.

1Insert the battery and memory card.

Insert a memory card and fully-charged battery.

2Attach and extend the lens.

Use a 1 NIKKOR VR 10–30mm f/3.5–5.6 lens; other lenses can not be used. Keeping the retractable lens barrel button pressed (q), rotate the zoom ring to extend the lens (w). Note that the camera will turn on automatical- ly when the lens is extended; turn the camera oﬀ before proceeding to Step 3.

3 Attach the zoom gear sleeve.

Align the slot on the inside of	Slide the sleeve straight onto the lens, stopping when
the sleeve with the retractable	overlaps	.

After attaching the sleeve, adjust its position so that the zoom ring ro- tates freely.

4Attach the inner-reﬂection prevention ring.

Attach the ring to the front of the lens as shown. If the ring is not attached, the lettering on the front of the lens may appear in photo- graphs, having been reﬂected from the inside of the lens window.
