Shooting Options: The Shooting Menu

AImage Mode

Choose an image mode, which is the combination of image size and image quality (compression), according to how you plan to use the picture and the capacity of the internal memory or memory card. The larger the image, the larger the size at which it can be printed or displayed without becoming noticeably “grainy,” limiting the number of pictures that can be recorded.

					The compression ratio is approximately 1:8.
N	PC screen (1024)	1,024 ⋅		768	Suited to display on computer monitor. The
					compression ratio is approximately 1:8.
			⋅		Suited to full-screen display on a television or
O	TV screen (640)	640		480	distribution by e-mail or the web. The
					compression ratio is approximately 1:8.
l	16:9 (3584)	3,584	⋅	2,016	Pictures with an aspect ratio of 16:9 can be taken.
					The compression ratio for both image sizes is
m	16:9 (1920)	1,920	⋅	1,080
					approximately 1:8.

The icon for the current setting is displayed in the monitor in shooting and playback modes (A 6, 7).
