Removing the Battery

Turn the camera off and confirm that the power-on lamp is off before removing the battery. To eject the battery, open the battery-chamber/memory card slot cover and slide the battery latch in the direction shown 1. The battery can then be removed by hand 2.

Note that the battery may become hot during use; observe due caution when removing the battery.

Turning On and Off the Camera

To turn on the camera, press the power switch. The power-on lamp (green) will light and the monitor will turn on. To turn off the camera, press the power switch again.

If the camera is turned off, hold down cto turn the camera on in playback mode (A28).

BNotes on the Battery

Only the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL5 can be used. Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to use another type of battery.

Be sure to read and follow the warnings for the battery on page iii and the section “Caring for the Camera” (A141), before using the battery.

BAC Adapter

First Steps

The AC Adapter EH-62A (available separately from Nikon) can be used to power the COOLPIX P5100 from an electrical outlet. Do not, under any circumstances, use another make or model of AC adapter. Failure to observe this precaution could result in overheating or in damage to the camera.
