Troubleshooting—Continued

Make sure that the TX-L55 is not subjected to direct sunshine or inverter-type fluorescent lights. Relocate if necessary.

If the TX-L55 is installed in a rack or cabinet with col- ored-glass doors, the remote controller may not work reliably when the doors are closed.

Make sure you’ve selected the correct remote control- ler mode (page 11).

When using the remote controller to control other manufacturers’ AV components, some buttons may not work as expected.

Make sure you’ve entered the correct remote control code.

Can’t control other components?

If it’s an Onkyo DVD player, make sure that the RecordingCan’t record? cable and analog audio cable (RCA) are connected

properly. Connecting only an OthersThe sound changes when I connect my head- phones? cable won’t work (page 29).

Make sure you’ve selected the correct remote control- ler mode (pages 11, 12, and 14).

To reset the TX-L55 to its factory defaults, turn it on and, while holding down the [Can’t use an audio adjust function?] TUNING button, press the [STANDBY/ON] button. When the reset is complete, “Clear” appears on the display and the TX-L55 enters Standby mode.

Onkyo cannot be held responsible for damages (such as CD rental fees) due to recording failures caused by the unit malfunctioning. Before recording something important, do a trial run to make sure that everything is working properly.

Memory backup

The TX-L55 uses a battery-less memory backup sys- tem in order to retain radio presets and other settings when it’s unplugged or in the case of a power failure.

Although no batteries are required, it must be plugged into an AC outlet in order to charge the backup system. Once it has been charged, the TX-L55 will retain the settings for several weeks, although this depends on the environment and will be shorter in humid climates.

Recording

Can’t record?

On your recorder, make sure the correct input is selected.

Digital signals cannot be recorded.

Others

The sound changes when I connect my head- phones?

When a pair of headphones is connected, the listening mode is set to Stereo, unless it’s already Stereo or Direct. When you disconnect the headphones, the pre- vious listening mode is resumed.

Can’t use an audio adjust function?

Some audio adjust functions can’t be used with certain listening modes.

The speaker distance cannot be set as required?

If the distance between the furthest and nearest speak- ers is greater than 20 feet (6 meters), corrected values suitable for home theater use will be set automatically (page 50).

The TX-L55 contains a microcomputer for signal pro- cessing and control functions. In very rare situations, severe interference, noise from an external source, or static electricity may cause it to lockup. In the unlikely event that this happens, unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, wait at least five seconds, and then plug it back in again.
