If you have any problems using this DVD recorder, the reason may be one of the following. You can

The production number (PROD. NO.) is printed on the type plate at the back or on the bottom
PROBLEM/HINTS SOLUTION

Your recorder does

not respond to any

button being pressed

and the display shows

'PHILIPS', 'IS TV ON?':

bRecorder in initial installationmode: Switch on the TV, switch over to the DVD recorder socket.
Now the menu for language selection should appear. Please readparagraph 'Initial Installation' in the chapter
'Installing your DVD Recorder'.

The device does not

react when you press a

button, although the

remote control works:

b'Key lock' is switched on: All buttons on the front of the set are locked.
Switch off the function:
1Pull out the mains plug from the wall outlet.
2Press and hold down hand OPEN/CLOSE J3and put back the mains plug into the wall
outlet.
3As soon as the time or '--:--' appears in the display (ca. 6 - 10 seconds), release hand
OPEN/CLOSE J3.

Your DVD recorder

does not respond to

any button being

pressed:

bThere is no power supply: check the power supply
bThere is a technical problem: disconnectfrom the mains power supply for 30 seconds, then connect again.
If this doesn't help, you can reset your DVD recorder to the default factory settings.

Resetting the machine

to the default factory

settings

bImportant:
All the information stored (TV channels, time and date, TIMER) will be lost.
1Disconnect from the mains power supply.
2Press and hold down the STANDBY-ON m1button on the device and reconnect to the
mains power supply.
3Release the STANDBY-ON m1button when the features appears on the display. The
machine is resetted.
Please read paragraph 'Initial Installation' in the chapter 'Installing your DVD Recorder'.

Remote control does

not work:

bRemote control not pointed toward the DVD recorder:Point the remote control at the machine. See if the
'o(((' appears on the display briefly each time you press a remote control button. If it does, the Recorderis
receiving information from the remote correctly.
bThere is a technical problem: Take out thebatteries, wait for 10 seconds and put them in again.
bBatteries are flat: Change the batteries.

I can not switch off the

DVD9Recorder:

bA recording is in progress (red light around the REC/OTR n1button is switched on). After the recording
is finished, the DVD-recorder will switch off automatically.
bIf a movie is played automatically, the demo featureis switched on. To switch off the demo, proceed as
follows:
1Press DISC MENU Band then SYSTEM MENU A(call up system menu of the disk).
2Select the 'A' symbol with DKand then '' using BO.
3Confirm with CM.
4Select 'Standby' with BOand confirm with CM
5Select 'Low power'or'Normal' using AI,BO.
6Press OK Lto confirm and SYSTEM MENU Ato end.
