Performing Automated Installations

This section describes how to install and conﬁgure 3C509B NICs when you want to perform multiple installations automatically or when you must reinstall the NIC software because it has been lost or corrupted.

This procedure uses conﬁguration settings saved from a previous installation.

Installing from the Hard Disk

Follow these steps if the saved conﬁguration settings are in a ﬁle on your hard disk:

1Click Start in the taskbar, click Run, and then enter the path to the ﬁle that contains the saved conﬁguration settings that you want to use to reinstall the NIC.

2Click OK.

The 3Com Installation Wizard starts and displays the ﬁrst screen.

3Click Install.

3Com Installation Wizard screens appear sequentially, displaying the settings saved in the original installation.

Installing from a Diskette

Follow these steps if the saved conﬁguration settings are in a ﬁle on a diskette:

1Insert the diskette containing the saved conﬁguration settings in drive A.

2Click Start in the taskbar, click Run, and then enter: a:\

3Click OK.

The 3Com Installation Wizard starts and displays the ﬁrst screen.

4Click Install.

3Com Installation Wizard screens appear sequentially, displaying the settings saved in the original installation.
