When you turn Parental Controls off,

®you don’t need to know a password to turn them back on. You may prefer to temporarily turn off Parental Controls, so that another person in your household does not choose a new password.

To turn on Parental Controls and define a password ( ):

Select “Turn on Parental Controls,” then use the number buttons on the remote control to enter a four-digit password. Enter the same password on the next screen to confirm.

To temporarily turn off Parental Controls ( ):

Enter your password to watch a program or channel—Parental Controls are temporarily turned off, or

Select “Temporarily turn off Parental Controls” on the Parental Controls screen, then enter your password.

When Parental Controls are temporarily turned off, any program or channel can be viewed, but the correct password is still required to change Parental Controls settings.

To re-enable Parental Controls ( ):

If Parental Controls are temporarily off and you want to re-enable them:

On the Parental Controls screen, select “Turn Parental Controls back on,” or

Put the Recorder in Sleep mode, then take it out of Sleep mode. To do this, select Messages & Setup, then Sleep, then press the TiVo or LIVE TV button.

If Auto Re-lock is “On,” Parental Controls are re-enabled automatically if the Recorder is not used for four hours.
