Recording Programs

The TiVo Plus service gives you smart recording capabilities that can detect when a program’s date or time slot has changed, can find the same program across multiple channels, and can even tell first run programs from repeats. In addition, with TiVo Plus you can set a different recording quality for each recording you schedule.

Season Pass and Other Repeating Recordings

There are two kinds of recordings: individual recordings and repeating recordings. You create an individual recording to record a single program, for example, a movie or one episode of a series. You create a repeating recording to schedule a recording of several programs at the same time, for example, recording every episode of a series, or every movie with your favorite actor.

There are three different kinds of repeating recordings:

•Manual Repeat Recording. If you have used the TiVo Basic service, you are probably already familiar with these. To create a manual repeat recording, you specify a time, a channel, and an interval (for example, every Wednesday from 7 to 7:30 on channel 2), and your Recorder repeatedly records that time and channel. •Season Pass. This is the hassle-free way to record a series. A Season Pass can record every episode of a series that airs on a certain channel—even if the date or time slot changes! It is completely automatic and very easy to set up. See page 76 for details.

•Auto-Recording WishList. With an auto-recording WishList search, you create criteria for the kinds of programs you want to record (for example, any baseball game with your favorite team, or any movie title), and then programs that match your criteria are recorded, no matter what time or on what channel they air. See page 89 for details.
