10 Getting connected

You can use your phone to exchange information with other mobile devices as well as your computer, a network, or the Internet. You have the following connection options:

Exchange information between devices with Bluetooth capabilities without a physical connection.

Connect to your Internet service provider (ISP) or the network at your company. Once connected, you can send and receive e-mail and instant messages, browse the Internet or intranet, and synchronise information using ActiveSync.

Connect to your computer to synchronise remotely. Once connected, you can synchronise information such as your Pocket Outlook data. For details on ActiveSync, see “Synchronising information” on page 46.”

Beaming with Bluetooth

Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology. Devices with Bluetooth capabilities can exchange data over a distance of about 10 meters (30 feet) without requiring a physical connection.

Unlike infrared, you do not need to line up the phone with another device to beam information with Bluetooth.

Activating Bluetooth mode

1.From the Start menu, tap Settings Connections tab Bluetooth Mode tab.

2.Tap the Turn on Bluetooth check box to activate the Bluetooth feature.

3.Tap the Make this device visible to other devices check box to allow other devices to detect your phone.
