DISCHARGING THE BATTERIES

Your digital camera is designed not to be affected by voltage fluctuations caused by the “memory effect” of nickel metal hydride batteries. However, there may be times when the remaining charge indicator for the batteries turns to çè or çê early. If this happens, discharge the batteries completely before charging them again.

1 Display the Shooting Option Setting Screen (or Playback Option Setting Screen) (see page 31).

2 Select “DISCHARGE” and press the SET button.

œThe Discharge Screen appears.

3 Select “START” and press the SET button.

œBattery discharge begins.

œThe message “DISCHARGING” appears in the display while the batteries are being discharged.

œLeave your digital camera until the power turns off. Once discharge of the batteries is complete, your digital camera will turn off.

œPlace the discharged batteries in the supplied battery charger and charge them until the recharge indicator turns off (see page 23).

œIf you press the MODE button while the batteries are being discharged, battery discharge stops and you return to the Shooting Option Setting Screen (or Playback Option Setting Screen).

œWhen discharging the batteries, make sure an AC adapter is not connected to your digital camera. If an AC adapter is connected, the battery discharge function will not operate.

œIf an AC adapter is connected to your digital camera, “PLEASE USE BATTERIES” will appear. Insert the batteries to be discharged.

œBatteries cannot be charged by your digital camera. Remove the batteries and charge them in the battery charger supplied with your digital camera.
