SETTING THE EXPOSURE CONTROL

By setting the shutter speed and aperture size, various exposure controls are possible. By changing the settings in accordance with the scene to be photographed, you can create the image that you want to express.

The exposure controls can be set in the still image shooting mode and sequential shot shooting mode.

1 Display the Still Image Setting Screen or Sequential Shot Setting Screen (see page 31).

2 Select an exposure control method from the exposure control menu, and press the SET button.

Ï: The optimum shutter speed and aperture size are set according to the brightness of the subject. (Aperture and shutter variable program AE)

Example: For simple shooting with minimum setup, using the camera’s automatic settings.

Î: This allows you to set a specific aperture size. The camera automatically sets an appropriate shutter speed based on this setting. (Aperture priority AE)

Example: To open the aperture for portraits with a blurred background (for a shallow field depth), or to close the aperture for a clear foreground and background (for a deep field depth).

Ì: This allows you to set a specific shutter speed. The camera automatically sets an appropriate aperture size based on this setting. (Shutter speed priority AE)

Example: To set a fast shutter speed for capturing a clear image of an fast-moving object, or to set a slow shutter speed to shoot the flow of a background scene.

To combine flash use with a slow shutter speed (slow shutter) so that both the foreground subject and the nighttime background scene(s) appear clearly in the picture (slow-synchro photography), use a tripod to eliminate camera movement.

Í: This allows you to set a specific shutter speed and aperture size. (Manual exposure control)

Example: When shooting in a dark location without using a flash, set the shutter to stay open for a longer time (slow shutter). When used for shooting nighttime scenes, you can capture lights flowing across the image.

VPC-AZ1, VPC-AZ1E specifications

The Sanyo VPC-AZ1E and VPC-AZ1 are compact digital cameras designed to cater to photographers who seek high-quality imaging in a small, portable form. The AZ1E model, in particular, stands out for its robustness and versatility, which makes it an ideal companion for both casual photographers and travel enthusiasts.

One of the key features of these models is their 8-megapixel CCD sensor, which captures images with impressive clarity and detail. The camera supports a variety of resolutions, allowing users to choose the perfect size for their needs, from printing larger photos to sharing online. In addition, the VPC-AZ1E offers a powerful 3x optical zoom lens, enabling users to get closer to their subjects without sacrificing image quality.

Both cameras are equipped with a bright, LCD screen that allows for easy framing and review of shots. The screen also facilitates menu navigation and access to a wide range of settings, making it user-friendly. An array of scene modes are available, including portrait, landscape, and night modes, which optimize camera settings and enhance image quality according to different shooting conditions.

Sanyo's incorporation of advanced image stabilization technology in the AZ1E and AZ1 minimizes the effects of camera shake, making it easier to capture clear images, particularly in low-light situations. This feature is particularly beneficial for users who may not have steady hands or when shooting without a tripod.

In terms of video capabilities, the VPC-AZ1E supports 720p HD video recording, allowing users to capture high-definition video clips with sound. This adds to the camera's versatility, making it suitable for not just still photography but also for videography.

The Sanyo cameras also come with various connectivity options, including USB and AV outputs, which facilitate easy transfer of files to a computer or TV. These models typically feature internal storage, along with an SD card slot for expanding storage capacity.

In summary, the Sanyo VPC-AZ1E and VPC-AZ1 offer an impressive combination of features, including a high-resolution sensor, optical zoom, image stabilization, and HD video capture.
