Cleaning the video heads
To ensure normal recording and clear pictures, clean tile video heads. The video heads
may be dirty when:
Mosaic-pattern noise appears onthe playback picture.
• Playback pictures do notmove.
• Playback pictures do notappear.
• The _ indicator and "_ CLEANING CASSETTE" message appear one after another
or the _ indicator flashes on the screen.
Ifthe above problem [a], [b] or [e]occurs, clean the video heads for 10 seconds with the
Sony DVMd2CED cleaning cassette (optional). Check the picture and if the above
problem persists, repeat cleaning.

Ifthe video heads get dirtier, the entire screen becomes blue [e].
Note on the videohead
The videohead suffers from wear after long use. If you cannot obtain a clear image even
after using a cleaning cassette, it might be because the videohead isworn. Please contact
your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility to have the videohead _-
replaced.

Cleaning the LCD screen

Iffingerprints or dust make the LCD screen dirty, we recommend using the LCD

Cleaning Kit (optional) to clean the LCD screen.

The built-in rechargeable battry is installed in your camcorder toretain the date and
time, etc., regardless ofthe setting of the POWER switch. The built in rechargeable
battery is always charged as longas you are using your camcorder. The battery,
however, will become discharged gradually if you do not useyour camcorder. Itwill be
completely discharged in about four months if you do not use your camcorder at all.
Even if the built-in rechargeable batlery is not charged, itwill not affect cameorder
operation. To retain the date, time, and other information, charge the battery ifthe
battery is discharged.
Charging the built-in rechargeable battery:
• Connect your camcorder towall outlet using the AC power adaptor supplied with
your camcorder, and leave your camcorder with the POWER switch turned off for
more than 24 horn's.
• Or, install a fully charged battery pack in your eamcorder, and leave your camcorder
with the POWER switch turned off for more than 24 hours.
