The IONLINE [button setsthe printer on-lineand off-line.The status
changeseachtime youpressthe button.
Whentheprinteris on-line,itcan receiveandprintdatafim the computer.
Whentheprinterisoff-line,it stopsprintingandsendsthecomputerasignal
indicat@gthatitcannotacceptdata.
Theprinterpowersup in theon-linestatusif paperis loaded.Ifpaper isnot
loaded,thepnnterpowerxupoff-linewiththePAPER indicatorilluminating.
Whenyouloadpaper,the printergoes on-line.

Beforeand afterany otherpaneloperation
The other panel buttonsoperate only in the off-line state. Press the
ON
LINF ]buttontogooff-line.Afterperfonningthepaneloperation(s),
pressthe ION LINE Ibuttonagainto go back on-line.
Topause duringprinting
If youpnxs the [ON
LINE 1buttonduringprinting,theprinterstops
printingandgoesoff-line,allowingyoutochecktheprintoutorchangea
control panel setting. Printing resumes when you press the
~] buttonagainto go backon-line.
Tocutfanfoldformsattheendof printing
Whenyou holdthe ION
LINE 1buttondownfor one secondwith the
pushtractormode,theprintergoesoff-line,then theprinteralsofeedsthe
papertlmvad approximatelytwoinchesforwad. Thisallowsyou tocut
itoff just belowthe lastline printed.
Whenyou press the \ON
IINE [buttonagainto go back on-line,the
paperfeedsbackwardstoppingwhe~ you leftoff.
NOTE: Thisfunctionis validonly whenthe bufferis empty.
PAPERFEEDbutton
If youpnxs this buttonwhilethe printerisoff-line, the paperwillfeed
forwad Ifyou holdthe buttondown,the printerwill performconsecutive
linefeeds.
If youalso pressthe ION
LINE 1buttonwhileyou m! line-feeding,the
paperwill feedautomaticallytothe topof the nextpage. Thisis explained
later.
