LAN Installation |
This chapter describes how to install the LevelOne Printer Server in your Local Area Network.
Procedure
1. Preparation
∙Ensure the power is OFF. Do not connect the LevelOne Printer Server while power is On.

With the LEDs on the PCMCIA card facing UP, slide the card into the PCMCIA slot until it encounters some resistance. Push firmly and it will click into position.
∙Find the Default Server Name for your LevelOne Printer Server.
The Default Server Name is shown on a sticker on the base of the device. It consists of 8 letters and/or digits. Record this name; it may be needed during configuration.
2. Connect the Printer or Printers
Connect the printer or plotter to the LevelOne Printer Server's printer port(s), as appropriate:
∙USB Ports - Use the USB cable supplied with your printer to connect the printer to the LevelOne Printer Server's USB port
∙Parallel Ports - Use standard Parallel port cables to connect the printer to the parallel port on the LevelOne Printer Server. Parallel printer cables should be less than 3 meters long.
∙Serial Port - Use a standard Serial port cable to connect the printer to the serial port on the LevelOne Printer Server.
3. Connect the Network Cable
∙Connect the network cable to the proper connector on the LevelOne Printer Server. The LevelOne Printer Server will automatically recognize whichever connector is used.
∙Note that if your LevelOne Printer Server has both BNC and UTP (10BaseT or 10/100BaseT) connectors, only ONE (1) connection can be used.

4. Power Up
