Receiving Faxes

NOTE

If you set <3. MAN/AUTO SWITCH> to <ON> in <FAX SETTINGS> of the Menu, the machine will receive faxes automatically even when the receive mode is set to <MANUAL MODE>. (See <3. MAN/AUTO SWITCH> of "Menu Descriptions," on p. 8-6.)

When you want to use DRPD, check with your local telephone company if the distinctive ringer pattern service is available in your area.

Receiving Faxes Automatically: FAX ONLY MODE

If you want to select <FAX ONLY MODE>, check the following:

Select This Mode If:

you have a dedicated telephone line for fax use only.

you only want to receive faxes automatically with the machine.

You Will Need to:

set <FAX ONLY MODE>. (See "Setting the Receive Mode," on p. 5-1.)

connect the machine to a dedicated telephone line. (See "Connect the telephone cable and any necessary external device," in the Set-Up Sheet.)

When You Receive a Fax Call

The machine will receive the fax automatically.

NOTE

The machine does not ring when it receives a fax call. If you connect a telephone to the machine and enable the <INCOMING RING> setting, the telephone will ring when the machine receives a fax call.

You can select the number of rings before the machine receives faxes. (See <2. INCOMING RING> of "Menu Descriptions," on p. 8-6.)

When You Receive a Voice Call

You will not be able to answer the call.
