3.6 Selecting the IEEE Address

SW3-1 through SW3-5 select the IEEE bus address of the interface converter when in the IEEE Peripheral mode. These same switches are used in the IEEE Controller mode to select the address of the device that will be controlled. [Refer to Chapters 5 and 4 respectively for additional information]. The address is selected by simple binary weighting, with SW3-1 being the least significant bit and SW3-5 the most significant. The factory default is address 10.

Listen Only is a special type of Peripheral operation. In the Listen Only mode the interface converter accepts all data transmitted on the bus, ignoring any bus addressing, and transfers it out its serial port. The interface converter is set to Listen Only mode by setting its address to 31. If the IEEE address is set to 31 in the peripheral mode, it is adjusted to 30.
