The printer is connected to a router that acts as a gateway between the user network and the Internet. This is the ideal network configuration.
Connect the printer to the network
To connect the printer to a wired network, you need the following:
●A network access point such as a hub, router, or switch with an open port

Note 1 You should not connect the printer directly to a computer using an ethernet cable.
Note 2 After you connect the printer to the network as described in this section, you must install the printer software. See Install the printer software on a Windows computer or Install the printer software on a Mac.
To connect the printer to the network
1.If there is a plastic protective cap in the ethernet port on the back of the printer, remove it.
2.Connect the ethernet cable to the back of the printer.
3.Connect the ethernet cable to an empty port on the hub, router, or switch.
