Problems and Solutions

Battery pack does not charge

The battery pack may be fully charged. Refer to your model-specific documentation for information about determining battery pack status.

If the battery pack is extremely warm or cool, allow the battery pack to reach room temperature.

Make sure that the notebook is connected to AC power, that all connections are secure, and that the power source is providing adequate power levels.

If you are using an AC adapter:

Make sure the AC adapter is the AC adapter included with the notebook or a replacement adapter provided by HP.

If the adapter is plugged into a power strip, unplug it from the power strip and plug it directly into an electrical outlet.

Make sure the battery is correctly inserted, and, if required on your notebook model, locked into place.

Replace the battery pack. It may be defective or have reached the end of its useful life. Battery life varies, because it is affected by power levels and maintenance and storage practices.

For information about prolonging the life of your battery pack, refer to the battery and power sections of your model-specific documentation.

For battery pack warranty information, refer to the warranty documentation included with your notebook or optional battery pack.

Battery pack is warm after charging
