Setting the Mower Deck

Leveling

1.

Position the mower on a level, preferably

concrete, surface.

2.

Check the pressure in all four tires. This

should be 15 psi.

3.

Raise the mower on lengths of 2" x 4"

placed edgewise under the cutting deck

from front to rear (see diagram).

4.

Place a 0.635 cm (1/4") shim between

the 2" x 4" and the rear edges of the

deck. This will allow the correct down

angle at the front of the deck.

Leveling the mower deck

5.Adjust the four lower chain bolts so that they are centered in the oblong slots.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Ensure that all four bearings suspending the deck to the mower are tightly bolted to the frame.

6.Check that all the chains are equally tensioned. If they are not, adjust the appropriate lower chain bolt in its slot.

Adjusting Cutting Height

Raise and secure the deck height lever to the transport position (6"). Measure from the cutting edge of the blades to the flat level surface. The distance should be150 mm (6").

Drop and secure the lever at (for example) the 2" cutting height. Measure as above. The distance should be 50 mm (2").

Deck Belt

Check the belt every 75 to 100 hours of operation. Inspect carefully for large cracks and significant damage. The small cracks that arise from normal use do not make it necessary to change the belt.

Changing Belts

1.Drop the deck to its lowest position.

2.Remove the operator’s foot plate.

3.Remove the outer deck belt guards.
