Before connecting the IntelliJack to the network, verify that the
existing network cabling meets the ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 standard
and that the port in the wiring closet is connected to an active
Ethernet MDI-X port.
1Thread both IntelliJack LAN cables through the opening in
the mounting plate.
2 Connect the wiring as illustrated on page 8.
The IntelliJack has two Ether net cables each terminated
with a male RJ-45 connector.
The white cable connects the LAN to the four personal
area network (PAN) ports located on the bottom of the
IntelliJack.
The black cable connects the LA N to the single pass-
through port located on the front of the IntelliJack.
3Choose one pair of the provided screws that best fits your
outlet box.
4Tighten the screws while holding the IntelliJack in place.
NOTE: The IntelliJack is designed to be mounted
using the provided mounting plate or many after-
market faceplates. However, some af ter-market
faceplates stand out f rom the wall and do not
provide a secure mounting surface f or the IntelliJack.
In such cases it is recommended to place the 3Com
spacer between the IntelliJack and the after-market
face plate. For more information on the different
mounting plates and spacers, see Appendix B.
