1 INTRODUCTION

The 3ComImpact IQ External ISDN Modem (referred to as the 3C882 ISDN modem throughout this guide) is an external, stand-alone Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Basic Rate ISDN modem for connection with digital telephone services from local telephone companies in North America. One model (3C882) supports both IBM or IBM-compatible PCs and Apple Macintosh computers.

The 3C882 ISDN modem is designed for users who require high-speed access to the Internet, intranet, on-line information services, or corporate local area networks (LAN). A typical 3C882 ISDN modem application is shown in Figure 1-1.

The 3C882 ISDN modem allows transmission of data at speeds of up to 128 Kbps over digital ISDN connections with
