IBM PC or Compatible RequirementsAn IBM-compatible PC must have the following:■A 386, 486, or Pentium processor

■Microsoft Windows 95, Windows NT, or Windows 3.x, MS-DOS, or IBM PC DOS 3.x or higher

■640 KB of conventional memory■A hard disk drive with 4 MB of free space■A high-density 3.5-inch ﬂoppy diskette drive■VGA or compatible video graphics adapter and monitor (color recommended)■An available serial communications port

For 230.4 Kbps data rate. You will need an enhanced serial port card and COM port driver software that support 230.4 Kbps.

For 115.2 Kbps data rate. 3Com recommends that your IBM or IBM-compatible PC serial COM port be equipped with a 16C550 UART (universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter). To determine what UART is installed in your PC, run the Microsoft Diagnostic Program (msd) from the DOS prompt.

Apple Macintosh RequirementsAn Apple Macintosh computer must have the following:

■An available serial communications port

■System 7 or later operating system

■A hard disk drive with 4 MB of free space

■A high-density 3.5-inch ﬂoppy diskette drive

This will set the baud rate to 230.4 Kbps 4From the Control Panel dialog box, double click the Modems icon 5Click Add The Install New Modem dialog box appears The dialog box listing modem manufacturers and modem models appears Page Page 4 APPLE MACINTOSH COMPUTER Conﬁguring the 3C882 ISDN Modem for a Macintosh Computer To install the 3C882 ISDN modem software in an Apple Macintosh computer: A message box appears as shown in Figure 2Click Continue The Readme ﬁle opens. You can choose to review the document or print the ﬁle This completes the software installation 1Double-clickthe 3ComImpact IQ program icon shown in Figure The Select Modem Port screen appears, as shown in 2Select the port to which the 3C882 ISDN modem is connected and then click OK the SPID Wizard is the recommended method for conﬁguring your SPID values 4Enter the ﬁrst telephone number for your ISDN line and then click Next If you have a second telephone number for your ISDN line, enter it and click A message box indicates that the conﬁguration was successful 6Click Done Update Conﬁguration Update Firmware. Refer to the readme ﬁle for ﬁrmware download instructions Quit. Click Quit to leave the Conﬁguration dialog box By default, Multilink PPP is enabled.
