DEFINING SNMP PARAMETERSThe modem has an SNMP agent that allows it to be managed remotely by a Network Management System (NMS). See page 91 for more information about managing the modem through SNMP. Use the following table for a description of the SNMP parameters:

1From the system menu, click general to open the General System window.
2Select Enable Trap Sending if you want the modem to send traps to a server.
3Enter the Trap Server IP Address for the server that the traps will be sent to.
4Enter the Trap Server Net Mask
(subnet mask) for the server that the traps will be sent to from the modem.
You can change the community strings to names you choose. The fields have default names as shown in the screen on page 39 and are case sensitive. If you change the name, however, the community string names must match on both the manager and agent to allow access to the SNMP function.
