Adjusting the Media Sensor

The QLS-4100 X is equipped with two intelligent media sensors. One sensor is used for Gap or Notched media types and the other is used for Reflective media type. Under normal operation, the sensor has to be calibrated to the media type being used only once. When changing from Gap to Reflective media types or vice-versa, a re-calibration is required.

The Gap/Notch sensor is positioned above the media on a movable shaft which can be adjusted out up to 2.5“ (64 mm) from the inside edge of the media. The Reflective sensor is positioned below the media in a position fixed at 6 mm from the inside edge of the media.

Before calibrating the printer for Gap or Notched media, you must adjust the position of the sensor so that it clearly “sees” the gap or notch. The illustration below shows how to adjust the sensor.

Turn the knob Clockwise to move the sensor toward the outside edge

Turn the knob Counterclockwise to move the sensor toward the inside edge
