Configuring your Wan Media access Controller (MaC) address
All network component s including card s, adapters, and routers, have
a unique “serial numbe r” called a MAC a ddress� Your Internet Service
Provider (ISP) may recor d the MAC address of your computer’s ad apter
and only let that par ticular computer connect to the Int ernet service�
When you install the Ro uter, its own MAC addre ss will be “seen” b y the
ISP and may cause the c onnection not to wo rk� Belkin has p rovided
the ability to clone (co py) the MAC address of the computer in to the
Router� This MAC address, i n turn, will be se en by the ISP’s system as
the original MAC addres s and will allow th e connection to wo rk� If you
are not sure whether you r ISP needs to se e the original MAC address,
simply clone the MAC add ress of the compu ter that was origi nally
connected to the modem� Cloning the addre ss will not cause any
problems with your net work�
Cloning your MaC address
To clone your MAC address, m ake sure that you ar e using the compu ter
that was ORIGINALLY CONNECTED to your modem befor e the Router
was installed� Click th e “Clone” button (1)� Click “Apply Change s” (3)
Your MAC address is now clon ed to the Router�
Entering a specific MaC address
In certain circumst ances you may nee d a specific WAN M AC address�
You can manually enter one in the “MAC Addres s” page� Type in a MAC
address in the spaces provided (2) and cli ck “Apply Changes” (3) to
save the changes� The R outer’s WAN MAC address will now be chang ed
to the MAC address you sp ecified�
