Enabling/disabling UPnP
UPnP (Universal Plug-an d-Play) is yet anot her advanced feat ure offered
by your Belkin Router� It is a technology that offers seamles s operation
of voice messaging, vid eo messaging, ga mes, and other a pplications
that are UPnP-compliant � Some applicatio ns require the Rou ter’s firewall
to be configured in a s pecific way to ope rate properly� This usually
requires opening TCP an d UDP ports, an d in some instan ces, setting
trigger ports� An a pplication that i s UPnP-compliant h as the ability to
communicate with the Rou ter, basically “tell ing” the Router whi ch way
it needs the firewall c onfigured� The Ro uter ships with th e UPnP feature
disabled� If you are us ing any applicatio ns that are UPnP-c ompliant, and
wish to take advantage of the UPnP features, you can enable th e UPnP
feature� Simply select “Enable” in the “U PnP Enabling” sect ion of the
“Utilities” page� Click “App ly Changes” to save the change�
Enabling/disabling auto firmware Update
This innovation provides the Router with the built-in capabilit y to
automatically check for a new version of firmware and aler t you that
the new firmware is availa ble� When you log into the Router’s advan ced
interface, the Router w ill perform a c heck to see if new firmware is
available� If so, you will b e notified� You can ch oose to download th e
new version or ignore i t�
