Troubleshooting: Backup and restore

I can't restore a backup file to my smartphone or

tablet

If you create a backup file on a smartphone that is running BlackBerry 7 or later or a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet that is
running BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0, the backup file is associated with the BlackBerry ID on the device. You cannot
restore a backup file to a device that has a different BlackBerry ID.
Try changing the BlackBerry ID on your device to the BlackBerry ID associated with the backup file.
1. Disconnect your device from your computer.
2. From your device, delete all of the device data. (For more information about how to delete data and third-party
applications, see the help on your device.)
3. Complete the setup process for your device and configure the BlackBerry ID user name that was used to create the
backup file.
4. Connect your device to your computer. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Software and try to restore the backup file to the
device again.
If you still cannot restore the backup file to your device, or if your backup file was created on a smartphone running
BlackBerry 6 or earlier or a tablet with the BlackBerry Tablet OS 1.0 installed on it, your backup file might be corrupted.
You can't restore a corrupted backup file to your smartphone or tablet. Try restoring a different backup file.
