ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) The original document can
be placed in the ADF and scanne d one page at a time
automatically.
Automatic Redial A feature that enables yo ur MFC to redial the la st
fax number if the fax did not go through because the line was
busy.
Auto Reduction Reduces the size of incoming faxes.
Automatic fax transmission Sending a fax without picking up the
handset of an external phon e.
Batch Transmission As a cost savings feature, all delayed faxes to
the same fax number will be sent as one transmission.
Beeper The sound the keys make when they are pressed, an error
occurs, or a fax has been received or sent.
Beeper volume Volume setti ng for the beep when y ou press a key
or make an error.
Broadcasting The ability to send the same fax message to more
than one location.
CNG tones The special tones (beeps) sent by fax machi nes during
automatic transmissi on to tell the receiving m achine that they are
from a fax machine.
Communication error (or Comm. Error) An error during fax
sending or receiving, usual ly caused by line noise or static.
Coding Method Method of coding the information contained in the
original document. All fa x machines must use a minimum
standard of Modified Huffm an (MH). Your MFC is capable of
greater compression methods, Modified Read (MR), Modified
Modified Read (MMR) and JBIG, if the receiving machine has the
same capability.
Compatibility Group The ability of one fax unit to communicate
with another. Compatibility is assured between ITU-T Groups.
