Removing a Hard Drive from the Rotatable Carrier

CAUTION: Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the components inside the system. Before performing any procedure, see your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety precautions, working inside the computer and protecting against electrostatic discharge.

1Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.

2Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 43.

NOTE: If only one SATA hard drive is to be installed, it should be connected to the SATA0 connector on the system board.

3Rotate the hard-drive carrier out of the system. See "Rotating the Hard-Drive Carrier Out of the System" on page 44.

4Disconnect the hard drive power cable from the hard drive that you are removing.

5Disconnect the data cable from the hard drive that you are removing.

6Press the drive release tabs on each side of the hard-drive bracket toward each other and slide the drive up and out of the hard-drive bay. See Figure 3-7.
