Setting Up Windows 3.1 and Windows for Workgroups Workstations

Notes:

Use AXIS Print Utility for Windows to configure printer ports on Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.

Before you begin these procedures, install this utility on each workstation performing peer-to-peer printing, or on server workstations in a client-server printing environment. See Software Installation on page 18 for instructions.

AXIS Print Utility for Windows does the following:

•Configures workstation printer ports to use the AXIS 1440.

•Captures and monitors print jobs directed to the AXIS 1440 port, and notifies you of problems. Print jobs are directed through a spool directory either at your local hard disk (peer-to-peer mode), or at the file server (client-server mode).

❏Microsoft Network protocols (NetBIOS/NetBEUI) must be running when using AXIS Print Utility for Windows.

❏You can use AXIS NetPilot or the internal web pages to change the default name or default parameters of the AXIS 1440. See Section 9 - Management and Configuration for more information about these tools.
