USER GUIDESETTING THE IP ADDRESS

51
Appendix A: Setting the IP Address
Most MC Mix users will never have to set a static Internet Protocol (IP) address
but in the rare cases that require it, the MC Mix does allow for it.
Normally the MC Mix uses Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to obtain
its IP address, typically from a router. The MC Mix will revert to link-local addressing
to generate an IP address if a DHCP server is not found on the network, such as
when an M C M ix i s co nn ect ed d ire ctl y t o a computer with an Ethernet cable. Both
of these methods of obtaining IP addresses can be overridden by supplying a
static IP address, which the MC Mix uses in all cases when powered on.
CAUTION: Attempt this only if you have prior experience configuring a network.
To set a static IP address:
1. While holding down the PAGE W and PAGE X keys simultaneously, press
and release the POWER switch.
Figure A-1 (left) shows the Use DHCP screen on fader strip 1's channel display
on the MC Mix.
Figure A-1 Use DHCP yes (left); Use DHCP no (right)
2. Turn the knob underneath the display clockwise to change the underlined
value from yes (default) to no (Figure A-1 right).
The Knob SEL and ON keys can be used instead of the knob to decrease or
increase the value, respectively.
