SOLUTIONS TO COMMON PROBLEMS
Below are possible solutions for common problems:
THE PC CARD IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY CARD SERVICES.
If your PC Card is not recognized by PC Card Services, a memory conflict may be the cause. Card Services software requires a 4K memory window to read the Card Information Structure (CIS) of the PC Card. Make sure that this window is excluded from your memory manager (EMM386.EXE). To know which window Card Services is using, refer to your Card Services documentation.
THE PC CARD IS NOT CONFIGURED BY CARD SERVICES.
If your PC Card is not automatically configured by PC Card Ser- vices, your Card Services Generic Enabler may have been improp- erly configured. Most Card Services provide Generic Enable that automatically assigns the next available COM Port to the device. The name of the Generic Enable may differ depending on your Card Services provider. For more information, refer to your Card Services documentation.
THE “PORT IN USE” ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS.
The PC Card is using a port that is already being used by another device. Normally, PC Card Services assigns an available COM port for each newly inserted device and maintains a list of COM ports in use. To solve this problem, use PC Card Services to assign an available port to your PC Card.
