Guide to On Screen Displays

DISPLAY menu

DVD mode

Press [DVD ] first.

With a disc inserted into the unit, press [DISPLAY] to display the on screen display. The menu shows information about what is recorded on the disc.

In some descriptions in this manual, only one type of disc is indicated as an example.

5Recording mode and remaining time.

6Status of the current disc.

Press [VCR ] first.

Press [DISPLAY] to display the on screen display.

1Current time.

2Position number.

3Audio status of the receiving broadcast or external equipment.

4Audio status of the currently playing back video tape.

5Tape counter.

6Recording or playing back speed.

7Status of the current tape.

While in the VCR mode, the on screen display of the VCR mode is displayed.

Setting menus

Press [SETUP] in stop mode to display “Easy Setting Menu” or “Advanced Setting Menu”. Choose either “Easy Setting Menu” or “Advanced Setting Menu” using [Cursor U / D], then press [ENTER] to change between the menus.

“Easy Setting Menu” and “Advanced Setting Menu” are available from the Setting Menu. The “Easy Setting Menu” consists of the settings frequently needed, while the “Advanced Setting Menu” consists of all the settings available. You can set the items

marked with in the “Easy Setting Menu.”

The unit remembers which setting menu you used last time and recalls it when you press [SETUP] in stop mode next time, even if power is switched off. (i.e., if you use the “Easy Setting Menu” and then turn the unit off, the “Easy Setting Menu” will appear next time you turn on the unit and press [SETUP] in stop mode.)

You can make the settings of the basic items as follows.

1 Clock:

Set the unit clock.

2 Channel:

Set up auto tuning or manual tuning.

3 DVD-RW Recording Format:

Select the DVD-RW recording format between Video mode and VR mode.
