Discussion of References

Several of the references listed in the preceding section are still in the process of being revised. This section provides help in understanding how the references should be followed.

The underlying specifications for CD-R/RW devices are presented in the specifications from N.V. Philips and Sony Corporation. These specifications are followed in order to obtain the right to use the “Compact Disc Recordable/ ReWritable” logo. These specifications include CD-DA, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, CD-i, CD-i Bridge, Multisession CD, CD-R, CD-RW, Enhanced Music CD, and Photo CD.

The drive conforms to the OSTA MultiRead specification and is certified as a MultiRead device.

The drive will be used to support OSTA UDF file systems, and therefore implements functionality to allow efficient UDF operation using commercial software.

ATA-2 is used as the base reference for the drive’s ATA interface. However, details from the ATA-3 and ATA/ATAPI-4 references are incorporated to allow operation with the higher level command set.
