Does the upgrade of one partition on a server to Instant Capacity version 9.x mean that every partition must be upgraded? The HP Utility Pricing Solutions contract requires all participants to run the latest version of the Instant Capacity software, and to maintain the Instant Capacity software on each partition in the system. Participants who do not meet these requirements may be in breach of contract. However, there may be some circumstances where you cannot upgrade to the latest version of Instant Capacity. In these cases, it is possible to run mixed versions, but HP does not test or guarantee interoperability except within the documented upgrade procedures and restrictions. Earlier versions of Instant Capacity prior to version 6 need to be upgraded, as described in “Upgrading to Instant Capacity version B.06.x or later (HP-UX)” (page 193). However, to use the GiCAP features, the Group Manager, the standby Group Manager (if any), and all OS instances on all member systems must be running version 9.0 or later of the Instant Capacity software.
