Accidental Activation of an Instant Capacity Cell Board

If you accidentally activate an Instant Capacity cell board, you can deactivate it by following this two-step procedure:

1.Set the cell board’s use-on-next-bootflag to n (no) by using the parmodify command.

2.Reboot the nPartition, or (on HP-UX 11.31 OEUR 0709 or later) a Cell Online Deactivation. This step is not necessary if there was no reboot after the activation.

For example, to change the use-on-next-bootflag to n on the Instant Capacity cell board in cabinet 0, slot 5, in nPartition 3, execute the following command:

/usr/sbin/parmodify -p 3 -m 0/5::n:

In this command, the n flag sets the cell board’s use-on-next-bootflag to “no” and causes the cell board to not participate in the nPartition when it is booted.

For details about adding and configuring cells in nPartitions, see the nPartition Administrator's Guide.
