Screw Notices

This computer uses special nylon-coated screws with following characteristics:

Ÿ They maintain tight connections.

ŸThey do not easily come loose, even with shock

vibration.

Ÿ They need additional force to tighten. Ÿ They should be used only once.

Do

the following when you

service this

your tool ba

Always use new screws

if

you

are

instructed.

ŸUse a torque screwdriver if you have one.

Loose screws can cause a reliability problem. The ThinkPad computer addresses this problem with nylon- coated screws. Tighten screws as follows:

ŸPlastic to plastic

Turn an additional90 degrees after the screw head touches the surface of the plastic part:

ŸLogic card to plastic

Turn an additional180 degrees after the screw head touches the surface of the plastic part:

ŸTorque driver

If you have a torque driver, refer to the "

column with each step.

ŸMake sure you use the correct screw, and tigh screws firmly to the torque shown in the table

you removed. Use a new one. Make sure the screws are tightened firmly.
