Power Management Features

Power Management Features

Two power management modes are available in the com- puter system to reduce power consumption and to pro battery life.

Screen Blanking Mode

When in screen blanking mode, the following occurs:

ŸThe LCD backlight turns off.

Events that cause the computer to enter standby mod

ŸScreen blanking requested by the Fn key (Fn+F3).

Standby Mode

When in standby mode, the following occurs:

Ÿ The LCD backlight turns off.

Ÿ The hard disk motor stops.

ŸProcessor stops the clock.

Events that

Note:

The

standby

mode

indicator

turns

on

when

syste

 

is

in

standby mode.

The LCD

is closed

Even if the Lid is Closed" parameter in the Pow Management menu of the BIOS Utility is set to [Enabled]).

ŸThe system (keyboard, mouse, hard disk drive,

allel connector, or diskette drive, etc.) is idle certain period of time.

ŸThe battery power is critically-low. The "Sleep Battery-low" in the Power Management menu of the BIOS Utility is set to [Enabled]. Sleep Manager installed and the hibernation file is not present invalid.

Note: Before entering standby mode, if "Battery-low Warning Beep" in the Power Management menu of the BIOS Utility is set to [Enabled], four sh beeps will be issued every minute for three minutes. If a powered AC Adapter is not atta then the beeps will be continuously issued eve minute until the system shuts down.

Events that cause the computer to exit standby mod

ŸThe LCD is opened (if the system entered stand

mode from closing the lid).

ŸA serial or PCMCIA device signals the modem ring indicator (RI).

ŸAny key or pointing device operation.
