Precautions for handling

Be careful when handling the removed disc. Debris, dust particles, fingerprints, smears, or scratches might impair recording and playback of the media. Use a soft, dry cloth to clean dust or other debris from the disc. Do not use solvents to clean the disc surface. When labeling a disc, write only on the printed label side using a soft felt-tip marker. Keep the disc out of direct sunlight, high temperatures, and humidity. Do not attach labels to either side of the disc.

Securing a disc in a vertically mounted drive

To insert the disc, slide it forward against the spring-loaded tray until the disc clears the front tabs, and then allow the spring to slide the disc back under the tabs.

To remove the disc, slide it forward against the spring until it clears the front tabs, and lift it from the tray.

Note: If you insert a DVD-RAM/DVD-R cartridge, you will have to raise the clips again before inserting a bare disc in the vertical orientation.
