Using DSP Surround Mode

Using DSP Surround Mode

In order to reproduce a more acoustic sound field in your listening room while playing any source, you can use following DSP Surround modes.

DSP Surround mode can be also used for a disc encoded with Dolby Digital 5.1ch or with MPEG Multichannel.

You can select one of the following DSP Surround modes according to your preference.

S (Small) THEATER: Reproduces the sound field of a small theater (where the seating capacity about 300).

L (Large) THEATER: Reproduces the sound field of a large theater (where the seating capacity about 1,000).

LIVECLUB: Gives the feeling of a live music club with a low ceiling.

PAVILION: Gives the spacious feeling of a pavilion with a high ceiling.

CHURCH: Gives the spacious feeling of a majestic church with a high ceiling.

Activating and Adjusting the DSP Surround Mode

You can use the DSP Surround mode for any source you like.

On the remote control:

Only when using the remote control, you can adjust the delay time of the surround speakers.

1 Press DSP SURROUND, while holding down SHIFT, to select a desired DSP Surround mode.

Each time you press the button, the DSP Surround mode changes as follows:

When one of the DSP Surround modes is activated, the SURROUND lamp on the unit lights up.

2 Press LEVEL SELECT repeatedly until “DELAY” appears on the display.

3 Press LEVEL + / – to adjust the delay time.

• Each time you press the button, the delay time changes as follows:

DELAY 6 Manual backgroundManual background DELAY 5 Manual backgroundManual background DELAY 4

As the number increases, the delay time increases so that you can obtain much larger sound field.

This setting does not affect the delay time setting of the “SPEAKER SETTING.” (See page 40.)

To cancel the DSP Surround mode, select “OFF” in step 1 so that the SURROUND lamp goes off.

On the unit:

When using the buttons on the unit, you can activate the DSP Surround modes, but cannot make delay time adjustment.

Press DSP SURROUND > or < to select a desired DSP Surround mode.

Each time you press the button, the DSP Surround mode changes as follows:

When one of the DSP Surround modes is activated, the SURROUND lamp on the unit lights up.

To cancel the DSP Surround mode, select “OFF” so that the

SURROUND lamp goes off.

When you use one of sound modes with surround elements—D.CLUB, HALL, STADIUM (see page 13)

You can set these sound modes together with the DSP Surround modes, but the surround elements of these sound modes are changed to the DSP Surround mode.
