Using the Parental Lock

Setting the Parental Lock Level

Using this function, you can restrict playback of DVD containing violent scenes (and those not suitable for your family members).

This function is only possible for the DVDs containing such rating level information—Level 1 (most restrictive) to Level 8 (least restrictive).

5 Press the number buttons (0 – 9) to enter new password (4 digits), then press ENTER.

Setting the Parental Lock Level moves to “EXIT.”

6 Press ENTER.

The parental lock level is set and PARENTAL LOCK screen disappears from the TV.

On the remote control ONLY:

Before setting the parental lock, make sure that no disc is loaded on the currently selected tray.

1 Press ENTER while holding

– 9) to enter the current password (4 digits), then press ENTER.

moves to “Country Code.”

If you enter a wrong password, “WRONG! RETRY···” appears.

Enter correct password again.

3 Press Cursor 3 or 2 to select a proper country code, then press ENTER.

moves to “Set Level.”

For each country code, see pages 53 and 54.

4 Press Cursor 3 or 2 to select a parental lock level, then press ENTER.

moves to “PASSWORD.”

Each time you press the button, the parental lock level changes as follows. The playback of the software rated the level you select or more restrictive is prohibited to be played back.

• If you do not want to make any restriction, select “–.”

To exit from PARENTAL LOCK screen any time during the above procedure, press ENTER while holding down 7.

The setting you have done is not stored.

Unlocking the Parental Lock Temporarily

Some discs cannot be played back at all when the parental lock is set. If you insert such a disc and try to play, the following PARENTAL LOCK screen appears on the TV. You can unlock the parental lock setting temporarily on this screen.

On the remote control ONLY:

1 Press Cursor 5 or to select “YES,” then press ENTER.

Manual background moves to “PASSWORD.”

If you do not unlock the parental lock (do not see the

loaded DVD), move Manual background to “NO” for “Level Change ?” by pressing Cursor 5 or . PARENTAL LOCK screen disappears.

2 Press the number buttons (0 – 9) to enter the current password (4 digits).

If you enter a wrong password, “WRONG! RETRY···” appears. Enter correct password again.

3 Press ENTER.

The parental lock is temporarily unlocked and PARENTAL LOCK screen disappears.

If you enter wrong password 3 times,

“WRONG! CAN’T CHANGE!” appears on the screen. Manual background moves to “EXIT” and Cursor 5 and do not work.

When you forget your password, enter “8888.”
