Playback
The easiest, most basic operation possible with your VCR is tape playback. Previously-recorded signals on a video tape are read by
your VCR and displayed on your TV just like a TV program.
LOAD A CASSETTE

Insert a cassette with its window side up, and label side
facing you. Press gradually on the middle of the cassette
until the VCR pulls the cassette in.
nThe VCR power will come on automatically.
n"READING TAPE#..." will appear on the screen unless
INDEX Plus+ functions are set to OFF. (Zp.12 of
INDEX Plus+ instruction manual.)
nThe counter will be reset to "0H00M00S" automatically.
nIf the safety tab on the cassette is absent, playback will
start automatically.
TO START PLAYBACK

Press PLAY.
TO STOP PLAYBACK

Press STOP.
TO REWIND OR FAST-FORWARD

Press REW to rewind the tape.

Press FF to fast-forward the tape.
nPress STOP to stop the tape.
nTo rewind or fast-forward the tape using the VCR's control,
turn the SHUTTLE ring fully to the corresponding direction,
and release it.
TO EJECT THE TAPE

Press the VCR's STOP/EJECT button again.

SHUTTLE
This overrides your VCR's automatic tracking.
During Playback...
1Press the VCR's CH(annel) +/– buttons simultaneously to
cancel auto tracking.
nThe remote control's CH +/– cannot be used for this purpose.
2Press CH + or – to adjust tracking.
nPress the VCR's CH +/– simultaneously to return to
automatic tracking.
During Slow...
1Simply press CH + or – to adjust tracking.
