Setting up the DVD player

There are clicks when starting to play a disc

If you are using a source other than DVD to control the DVD player, check that it is configured as -Cin Config. This ensures that the Meridian preamplifier or control unit mutes the sound when a disc is not playing.

If you are using a non-Meridian preamplifier the clicks are unavoidable.

For more information see To configure another source to control the DVD player, page 50.

There is no video output

Only one of the S-Video or COMPONENT video outputs is active at any time, depending on the option selected in the VIDEO OUT SEL. menu; see To select the video output format, page 40.

To change the menu option connect the COMPOSITE video output, which is active irrespective of this setting, or use the Video toggle configuration option; see To change the video output format, page 49.

The on-screen display shows PLEASE CHECK DISC when attempting to play a disc

Check that the disc is positioned correctly in the drawer; see To insert a disc, page 11.

If it is a single-sided disc check that the label is uppermost.

Check that it is not a recordable CD.

Try playing another disc. If this disc works, check the problem disc for signs of dirt or damage.
